Scientific Method Definition According To the True Meaning

We often know the various terms associated with the science. Some terms are now being discussed by the public is the scientific method. The word is widely known since many students do field work in the community. Then what the real scientific method definition?

Scientific method implies a process of solving a problem by using a systematic, empirical and well controlled system. As for solving the problem in a systematic understanding is that any problems will be solved with the scientific method must follow the order given. Errors in the leapfrog stages will result unscientific solution. In determining the empirical method must also mean that any results obtained must go through the stages of accurate data. The availability of evidence in the form of data makes the solution is said to be the result of research. Control must be done in order to keep the results of the research from error.

How a scientific method results can be obtained? Of course it would need the steps that must be passed one by one. Sequence step is to formulate the problem, formulate hypotheses, collect data, test hypotheses, and the last is the formulation of conclusions. All these sequences must be done properly and seriously so that the results obtained can be justified.

Scientific Method Definition

The formulation of the problem

If now you are going to do a study, then the first step is to formulate the problem to be raised. You can start with a question, for example "How far the influence of television viewing on children liveliness to learn?" Is certainly a simple thing can be made formulation. It is to train your mindset to be more open to resolve any problems.

The formulation of hypotheses

After a formulation of the problem, then the order to do next is to formulate a hypothesis about the issue. The hypothesis usually is of the opinion in some quarters, or it could be from your opinion. The hypothesis is a temporary answer to the problems to be faced. So, you can take the next step to complete the stage in the use of the scientific method.

Collect data

To solve the problem and to prove the hypotheses you must do data collection that supports your experiment. Usually for an agency, it takes some people to collect data to support the desired results. But you can also collect the data by your own. Although it’s taking a long time and lot cost depend to the broad scope on the issues that you take. But you can limit the time of data collection according to agreement, so the data can be collected on time with the experimental schedule.

Hypothesis testing

After going through all the steps above, now is the time to test the hypothesis. Now is the time for the data to be processed. If your experiment is qualitative, the data processing is not overly involving complicated formulas. But different if your experiment quantitative, it will be valid otherwise. In qualitative experiments with only comparing data alone, you can get the results that can be accountable.

The formulation of conclusions

After seeing the results of data processing, time for you to explain the results of your experiment. In qualitative research, an explanation of the data that has been processed to be more detailed. The explanation would be better if accompanied with pictures, graphs and diagrams, not just words. Then pull the conclusions that can summarize all the results of these studies, suggested using simple words, short and dense in drawing conclusions. So by simply reading the conclusion that you pull, the reader has to understand the aims and benefits of your research.

So that we can say to you about the scientific method definition and it’s stages, may be useful to you in your experiment or in completing your coursework.
